What's your Scotty? Mine's sharing Yin Yoga Teacher Trainings

A couple of weeks ago it was the first time daddy took our little dude to nursery unsupervised… he forgot to put shoes on him and take Scotty his dog teddy comforter for naptime.  He failed to mention this until late in the day.

I frantically messaged the nursery to check in and see how the barefooted little dude was doing. Shoes had been negotiated onto his feet. Bright yellow sandals in completely different sizes were his choice.

The comforter Scotty is another story. Little dude sleeps with him all the time and rubs the label for comfort.

Naptime rolled in. The carers looked and couldn't find Scotty anywhere. One of the little dude’s buddies came and sat next to his bed. He said “It’s ok sometimes Mummy and Daddy forget to bring your teddy but it’s ok, he will be at home waiting for you.  Shall we find you another teddy to cuddle?” He started handing him a selection of teddies from the nursery room to see which one would be best for a naptime snuggle.  Little dude settled on the little mouse from the Gruffalo as his teddy for the nap.  His little buddy seeing the little dude was much happier and settled down for his bed to nap.

I am so grateful to hear such little people can be so caring and loving to others when they see they are sad.  The nursery that little dude goes to does yoga pretty much everyday and they talk about their feelings.  They’re being shown how to use their breath to calm themselves.  The whole day reminded me how yoga can help to create a calmer approach to situations outside of our control and approach it with love & kindness.

Sometimes you can have the best laid plans. You have to accept life's situations as they arise and show compassion to those around you.

My “Scotty” is Yin yoga. I’m passionate about Yin yoga because it’s a practice that reminds me that regardless of what’s happened during the day, I have the power to breathe and shape with the elements of my most immediate environment, my body and subtle body, to make everything feel right again.

With this in mind, did you know that I am hosting my first in person 50hr Yin Yoga Teacher Training in November.  It is open to yoga teachers and those who wish to deepen their Yin yoga knowledge.  Topics covered include the asanas, anatomy, deep dive into modern traditional chinese medicine with the focus on the elements, the meridians, and ways to find balance on & off the mat and much more.

I hope that you have the resources you need to help you manage life’s unexpected adventures.
